“I’m here. I reside in Los Angeles. I’ve been ready and willing. It’s perplexing why I never receive audition invitations or job offers here. Yet, when it comes to Texas, Maine, Virginia, New York, or Connecticut, opportunities abound. They eagerly welcome me back year after year for various roles,” she remarks.
Struthers, who has served as a spokesperson for Christian Children’s Fund for numerous years, is the mother of one daughter. In the past, she was convinced that motherhood wasn’t for her as she had no desire for a child. However, her perspective shifted when she met her now ex-husband, renowned psychiatrist William C. Rader.
“Before I met Bill, I never desired to have a baby. I was adamant that it wouldn’t bring me fulfillment, that I didn’t need a replica of myself. Then, you fall in love with someone,” she shared with People magazine in 1981.
“And you yearn to be the mother of a child who is a part of that man, a product of your mutual love.”
Her daughter, Samantha Struthers Rader, is a clinical psychologist who manages her own practice.
As of Struthers, she is now 75 but she’s still very active as part of the teather.

“And when I hear others laugh, knowing that a silly expression or a well-delivered line from me brings them joy, it’s like being transported to heaven. That’s my passion: laughter.”
